Hu shi building 8

This is The Beijing National Aquatics Center, but Chinese like to call it as Water Cube. It is built for 2008 Beijing Olympics. After that a half of it is revamped to a water park. Although it called Water Cube, and it looks like a Cube in the picture it is a cuboids. I like the idea a cuboids full with bubbles, which symbolize water. This is not as easy as we thinking, structure the edge of each bubbles is curved in order to maintain 109.5 degree angles. and the support system each beam was required to be straight so as to better resist axial compression. I have been there twice. It's view at night is more beautiful that day time. It looks like a magical water world.
