Lone
Mountain Ranch House located on the turquoise trail between Albuquerque and
Santa Fe. This is a house for a couple who own a Wagyu cattle ranch. This
couple want their house is felt very Japanese. The linear wood-frame retreat is
clad in charred cedar which is fire and insect resistant. Roof looks eastern
too, but it is on a slant. As Rick Joy's style, the house looks concise and muted.
Those big glass slots bring the daylight to inside of house. Because the client
is a “weekend astronomer,” Joy designed a hidden roof terrace for stargazing
that is accessed by an exterior stair.
