Above is the MUCEM Musée des civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée in Marseille, France. This structure is absolutely breathtaking. The long piece extending out of the top of the museum is the walkway that you take in order to enter the structure. Once you have entered the structure you are immediately welcomed by this wonderful reflection of shapes due to the design that wraps around the whole building.
This 130m long walkway suspends you over the water as you make your way to the rooftop of the MUCEM. One thing that struck me as I was taking this long walk to the island the museum was sitting on was that they only used the color grey when building this structure. I loved seeing the contrast between the subtle grey of the building and the magnificent blue water that it was sitting on. In addition to the beautiful water you have the backdrop of the mountains in the distance.
The one pop of color that was incorporated in the buildings rooftop was the greenery. these plants lined the area that reflected the shapes of the walls. It was breathtaking. They had chairs along all of the walls that you could sit in and enjoy the beautiful views of the water. The chairs were made using the same design at the cut-outs in the walls! I love this building!
