Tow - Blog 8
At this point, I am starting to wish that I had a different architect than Michael Reynolds as I haven't found any design of his rather than these earthships, which, to be honest, I'm not particularly fond of and am growing to disdain more and more. This particular earth ship is the most 'earthy' of the ones I have viewed so far. The use of tires as a type of retaining wall is interesting. I would hope that the area this building is in doesn't receive much rain as it seems like a lot of that soil could easily run off. One concern I'd have about the tires is the types of spiders, snakes, and other critters that would take up residence in the spaces they could find there. I do prefer this tire look to the appearence of some of the other earthships. The tires don't contrast the building as much as some other feature in the other earthships, which I appreciate. The earthy tones on the walls and roof go nicely with the dirt, plants, and tires. I think the soil can also act as a type of insulator for the house, keeping it cool when needed and warm during winter.
