Richard Meier created Barcelona’s Museum of Contemporary Art
in 1995. Its design on the outside pretty much speaks for itself in terms of
being a building for contemporary art. Again, you see the signature style of
Meier with the all white look accented with glass and some metal. The
differentiation of shapes on the outside really give it a unique look and feel
and with the several storied glass window in the front, there is just that much
more detail too the already unique building. On the left side of the build
Meier used most square and rectangular shapes, while on the right only used
round curved edges. Inside the building Meier’s signature still shines as the
wall and everything else inside is white, which really allows for the pieces of
art to stand out. Also, the building has created somewhat a community gathering
spot where many people like to hang out and sit on the long wall of benches in
the front. Overall it’s a very cool structure that really elevates the area as
a whole.
