Diogene - "a reference to Diogensis of Sinope, the ancient Greek philosopher who was said to live in a barrel" - is a design of Rezno Piano that is minimal in its footprint while attempting to maximize utility and efficiency for a liveable space.
Built by furniture company Vitra in collaboration with Reno Piano, Diogene, is a 2.5 x 3.0 meter space (8.2 x 9.8 ft or nearly 80 square feet) and is billed as "Vitra's smallest building - but largest product."

"With its own water collection and energy systems, the design is entirely self-contained and contains everything needed to live a simple lifestyle, all in a space small enough to be delivered on a truck."

Being a product of Vitra, Diogenesis is targeted to be a unit full of utility that can be used as an office, weekend retreat, or grouped together as a sort of informal hotel.  This prototype was completed in 2013, it is unclear whether production has begun or will begin.
With plenty of natural light, individualized living space complete with bathroom and kitchen even in a roughly 80 square feet living space this might be more comfortable than most college dorm room situations.
