"L.A. City Council this week gave final approval on Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano’s plan for a 290,000-square-foot Academy Museum of Motion Pictures."
The plans call for a metal and glass spherically shaped structure that will have six floors for exhibits and galleries with bridges of glass (hopefully only the sides and not floors) as well as a 1,000 seat theater.

Piano refers to his planned structure as "the spaceship" and has been described by writer David Hochman as looking "like the Death Star from Star Wars hovering above the intersection of Wilshire Blvd. and Fairfax Ave. But in a good way."
With $300 million raised and the L.A. City council vote complete, construction is expected to begin this summer with the museum expected to open in late 2017.  With the Academy's collection being hidden from view except to those with special permission, it's no wonder that the museum is expected to attract 860,000 visitors annually.

A view to the Hollywood Hills, naturally, is part of the plan at the Academy’s new museum.
