The Meyer House, Huntleigh, Missouri

After the completion of St. Mary's Church (see Blog 3), Charles Eames was commissioned to build The Meyer House for John and Alice Meyer in Missouri. Like St. Mary's, there was a lot of brick used. I am not a big fan of brick buildings because they look lazy. Additionally, many of the windows are awkwardly placed and small. I watched a video tour of the house and it looks dark inside. However, Charles did do a neat little customization for the homeowners:

Alice Meyer loved the symphony so Charles imprinted the opening of her favorite symphony into the brick of the house. He also imprinted the windows with little pictures:

While the little details are nice, I still think the building looks boring and the surrounding landscape is unflattering. Brick houses might as well be designed by an 8 year old with legos.
