If you are in the mood for a large american coffee in France, Columbus Cafe in Aix-en-Provence is the place to go. I went here almost everyday to get a normal sized coffee, because in France most coffees are espresso. This cafe had an interesting architectural story to it. It was built where an old church used to be, so as you went upstairs you could see the arched ceilings. I loved the way the ceilings curved and created a point for the chandelier to hang from. The stone walls on the inside of the cafe created a homely feeling, not to mention the smell of delicious baked goods and coffee from the first floor. The exterior was simplistic and opposite of the interior. What you saw from the outside made you feel interested and curious, welcoming you inside. Then your senses explode when you walk inside to see the beautiful structure of the interior space.
