Hein- Blog 2

This isn't about one building per se, but about a road full of buildings. Living abroad I adjusted to the differences in UK cities vs U.S. cities. In the U.S. buildings are very spread out, most places you have to drive to get from one place to the next. However, in the UK, yes somethings might be spread out, but most places are within walking distance. Walking a mile to and from the store is normal. Not only that but flats are built on top of shops and are ancient buildings compared to most buildings in the U.S. While I stayed with a friend in Edinburgh I was told that her flat was built in the 1800s, and that's not old by their standards. It was just a different way of life because they stacked everything and moved everything towards a central area. Single family homes were definitely more on the outskirts of the city.
