David Fenster’s shipping container cabin in the woods is, I think, one of the best examples of shipping container homes and their possible beauty. As a structure for homes, I think shipping containers can be fantastic or hideous, but this one is a beautiful example of how it can work. The use of gaps between the containers to bring in ample light through large windows and skylights and the creating of windows by using the container’s doors shows a nice and creative way to break up the boxy-ness of the entire structure. This bringing in of light also connects the home to the forest it is built inside of. The container’s shape gives a simple look that doesn’t take away from the magnificent looking landscape outside.
