Meacham - Blog 4

There is always this one building that comes to my mind when I see a piece of abstract architecture. This would be the engineering building at the University of Colorado in Boulder. I was went to school there my freshman year and I was always intrigued by the unique building. It's abstract block-like design is not like anything else on the campus, all of which has buildings that all follow the same style of architecture. The engineering building has so many different aspects and facets that make its so unique. Every time I need to get to my car I had to walk around the building. It's massive concert look seems like it's just this solid rock of concrete but really there is almost no bottom floor as it is held up by many concrete pillars allowing for walkways and open garden-like atriums surround by all the concrete and windows. When walking through the actually building you'll come to see that it's practically just a bunch of very long hallways lined with classrooms and labs. It's uniqueness is what draws you to it but the similarities it has with the surrounding buildings allow it to blend in the the area in a weird way. I definitely recommend going to have a look if you're ever in the area.
