Kansas City Power and Light Building - View looking north up Baltimore Avenue from near 15th Street in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The Kansas City Power and Light Building is in full view in the center of the photograph. The sign for the President Hotel is also in view on the right. This is the Kansas City Power and Light building located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.  When I was very young I was always intimidated and scared of this building whenever we drove past it because of its massiveness and a certain unique feature about it.  At the very top of this building stands a lantern that used to glow an eerie green, followed by a reddish orange and another color, but I can't remember.  This building always reminded me of the building in Ghost Busters.

The building was built in 1931 by Kansas City Power and Light, but they have since left there.  It currently has no inhabitants and is in the process of being transformed into apartments.  I really enjoy the building now that I am older, but it certainly has the looks of an era long gone considering it was build before the Great Depression.
