The Toronto Communion Center
In 1969, a year after he had built the Neue Nationalgalarie, Mies Van Der Rohe died from pneumonia at the age of eighty-three. Before he was diagnosed with pneumonia, he was also living with esophagus cancer for three years. While Rohe was living with cancer, he was still able to work as a design consultant for the Toronto Communion Center project. The project consisted of six buildings in downtown Toronto, Canada where the Toronto-Communion Center served as the headquarters for the bank. With the height of 731 feet, this Center was Mies Van Der Rohe tallest buildings that he had completed.
