Ferguson- Blog 5
This is Burton Hall here at The University of Oklahoma, and it is where I took my public speaking class last semester. I've always thought this was one of the most interesting buildings on campus with its kind of stair-step progression from large at the top to a small base. Also, for the way that the very end of it isn't just squared off, but it points east almost like the bow of a ship. I think how they did the windows was kind of modern looking for the time period that it was probably built in. I would not say that this building is all that pleasing to my eye, however I would not say that it is completely ugly. My absolute favorite part about the whole building is inside the downstairs "quiet study room" where there is a massive brick fireplace that goes with the theme of the whole building where it starts out as a small brick design and grows into a large one towards the ceiling. Other than this grand fireplace the rest of the place is pretty cramped and a lot less eye-catching than it's exterior.
