Galliart - Blog 6

Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed the Willow Tearooms in 1903. This building contains several rooms meant to be places of social gathering. The facade of the building is geometric (yet asymmetric), while the interior contains floral designs and wood paneling. The rooms are colorful and well-lit by sunlight, and almost everything in them was designed by Mackintosh (chairs, tables, doors, floor, etc.). This building reflects Mackintosh's desire to mix geometric and organic forms. He wanted to create buildings that were both functional and aesthetic.
