Poe blog-1

I was assigned Aldo Rossi as the architect I was to study. This seems to be his most popular work, so I decided to start here. This is the Bonnefanten Museum. It was built in 1995; it is a fine art museum. The first thing that gathers my attention is the rocket looking dome in front. Honestly, I don’t find it pleasing to the eye, but intriguing nonetheless. The materials and colors used on the dome and the columns to the rear are sharply contrasted by the red-brick main building. It seems that it was an attempt to make the dome and columns look like a rocket and fuel tanks, at least that’s what I see.  I find the shapes an interesting choice for an art museum.
