This is the Civil Rights Memorial located in Birmingham, Alabama designed by Maya Lin once again. There are some positives in my opinion and some negatives in her design of this memorial. I think she took a very literal approach to her design of this memorial. Martin Luther King Jr. has a quote that says, "...until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream." Maya Lin decided to put this quote on the wall of a flowing stream of water, I think this was a very good idea. One of my negatives about her design is the timeline you see on the circular disc, I don't think this was a very creative way to shed light on the civil rights movement. I don't want to say what she should or should not have done, but at the same time I think this aspect could have been better emphasized.
