Jeanne Gang designed the Rock Valley College Starlight Theatre in 2003 to replace an existing outdoor venue. It was completed over 3 years so that the college could continue to operate it's summer theatre schedule. I really love this building. It reigns me of origami. Gang said that she tried to create a covered venue, but also stay connected to the outdoors. The "petals" can be opened and shut depending on the weather which makes it a great summer and winter venue! I would be interested in seeing how "weather-proof" that ceiling is when it's closed.
