Meacham - Blog 14

The Des Moines Art Center in Iowa is another art museum that was designed by Richard Meier. Just like most of his buildings, you see his signature style of white tile contrasted by stone and the differentiation of shapes in terms of the actual architectural design. This building almost looks like a smaller less complex version of his High Museum of Art in Atlanta. When it comes to designing art museum, Meier seems to always take the same approach. He seems to invite the person inside with its crazy design, however, once inside it is noticed that there is not much to the interior design in terms of color and other attribute like that and rather more on the piece of art that the building holds. One cool feature of this building is the courtyard with the contemporary looking reflecting pond in the middle, which creates a great place for people to congregate and mingle after looking at all the interesting art.
