Emanuel blog 14

The Ridolfi Chapel was build in the church of San Jacopo sopr'Arno, which is no longer standing today. However, this chapel uses the same architectural elements that were already in use in the Ospedal deli Innocenti, Pazzi Chapel and the Sagrestia Vecchia. When looking at the area of land that the Ridolfi Chapel would have stood in the images above, I could only imagine how beautiful it was on the edge of the water. Personally it is interesting how it has been built in such a small space between the structures on either side. The colors are keeping with the neutral theme of Brunelleschi's earlier works. This would have to be my favorite of Brunelleschi's works, even though the building no longer stands, the placement of the building was different from all of his other structures, which I find intriguing. Speaking of the location, Brunelleschi was known to make smaller structures as practice for his most known work the Cathedral of Florence. This would explain why he choose such a small piece of land in the middle of other structural elements.
