Image result for the louvre

This is another example of a building that I've never visited but left its mark on me all the same. What truly defines the Louvre in my mind is its perfect marriage of modern and ancient architecture. Originally constructed in the twelfth century, it was altered frequently throughout the ages. As a final addition, functioning as almost a capstone to the centuries-long construction process, a great glass pyramid was completed in the late 1990's. To this day, the Louvre remains a sort of artists' Mecca, drawing international attention as one of the world's foremost collections of artwork.
