Hunt, Amanda-Blog 8 (I.M. Pei-Mudam Museum)

Mudam Museum

The Mudam Museum is located in France and is another one of I.M. Pei's work. Many of his famous works include museums, like, the Louvre. Comparing the two museums, they have many similarities. The Louvre and Mudam are located in France, have a more modern twist added to an older building, and both have the geometric glass walls.

I took a course a couple of semesters ago about museums and how they are able to accompany the surroundings with the visitors. One art museum was aware of the amount of art overload a visitor can take in. So, the museum created a white room in the middle of the exhibit. Here the visitor was able to sit down in a completely white room to rest and get a break of the many pieces of work. I.M. Pei may have had that in mind when creating the inside of the Mudam. The white and beige walls and stairs gives the visitor a break from all the pieces of art they experience. Thus making the trip to the museum more enjoyable.
