Meacham - Blog 7

First picture is the only one online I could find of what I am talking about, but the rest are other works that the architect has done

Another really cool piece of architecture that has been a part of my life would be the middle school at Heritage Hall where I used to go to school. I had been in the middle school for only a year before we were moved into the new building. We went from an outdated and badly designed building, to pretty much the complete opposite. It was designed by a very well known contemporary architect out of Oklahoma City named Rand Elliot. His style is very unique and noticeable as our gym facilities were also designed by him the previous year. The middle school building is completely white with accents of steel framing and design. The covered steel framed entrance leading to the front entrance is designed with multiple glass bubble looking skylights that continue even inside the building. The interior of the school is pretty much all white but there are many different element of wood, metal, and light that give it more emphasis. One cool feature of the building is that it has one large hallway that all mirrors accented with blue light that really gives it somewhat of a futuristic feel that isn't anything I've ever seen in another school. And lastly the thing that makes the middle school unique is the fact that the lockers aren't lined along the walls, but rather in small pod like areas allowing the kids to congregate rather than being so spread out like most school these days.
