The Arc de Triomphe stands at the center of the Place de l'Étoile at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. This is a stunning piece of architecture that honors those who fought in the french revolution and Napoleonic wars. The names of the fallen individuals are transcribed on the interior walls of the monument. Out of all the monuments in France this would be my favorite, or the one that I felt most affected by. The sheer height and width of the structure is so grand that you feel immediately more important as if you're a part of royalty. I love the way you can see through the arc as well. It creates and airy feel to the structure. All of the detail around this one building is incredible, from the four main sculptural images on each of the four pillars to the six reliefs that are sculpted on the facades of the arc. It is one beautiful piece of art let alone architecture.
