Jeanne Gang built Aqua, an 82-story skyscraper in Chicago. This was her first skyscraper project and also the largest project ever awarded to an architecture firm headed by a woman. Aqua is a mixed-use property; It is Chicago's first downtown building to combine condos, apartments and a hotel. The Aqua building was named the Emporis Skyscraper Award for 2009. The name comes from the wave-like form of the balconies and also the property's proximity to Lake Michigan.
