This piece of OU architecture holds a very special place in my heart. It isn't that beautiful. most stadiums are not. However, if you attend The University of Oklahoma this is a place that you find beautiful even if it is not! This structure holds some of the greatest days of my college career. As a cheerleader on the OU EO-ED team, I got to run across this field celebrate touchdowns by tumbling the end zone, hold girls in the air for 85,000 people in celebrations. Pump 85,000 people up in exciting situations and share some energy with many fans that is unfathomable. This structure holds some of OU's greatest times and is a gathering place for Sonner fans every Saturday to come together as one and root on the most successful football program in college football history (that's not made up, ESPN ranked us #1!). Although this might be a drab looking place any day but Saturday, the architecture has done the best it can with the given design opportunities to fit in with the OU architecture. Even including some of the Gothic feels on the north end zone screen, to make it feel castle like! To most Sooner fans this place has its own sense of beauty, however I am sure to others it could be considered an eye soar. This to me speaks of how personally emotional architecture can be.
