Top Gun House

 This house, located in Oceanside, California, is the supposed house of Tom Cruises girlfriend in the movie Top Gun. The Victorian era house has been in Oceanside for 125 years. The house has been an icon of Oceanside for many years, and has been threatened as of late. Neglected and abandoned the house was nearly destroyed by the growth of tourism and hotels in the area. Local citizens petitioned to have the house preserved by the city as a destination for tourism. The house has been updated, restored and protected from destruction by incoming hotels. I grew up in Oceanside and walked by this house all the time. I've seen the progressive dilapidation of the house and am revived to see it restored. The restoration of this house is indicative of the improvements to this neighborhood and Oceanside as a whole.
