Eldridge - Blog 6

Apparently I'm allowed to do a few blogs on Charles Eames furniture so I'll do a couple to change up the pace a little.
Eames Molded Plastic Rocker
Not only were Charles and Ray Eames responsible for some truly hideous architecture, but also for some terrible furniture. Most of us have seen their furniture before but we just don't know it. I'll cover one of their furniture pieces I actually like in a later blog that most of you have seen before. However, for this blog I want to cover the white trash rocking chair... because that is what this reminds me of. This is the type of rocking chair you would see on the front porch of a trailer with a shotgun propped on the wall nearby. This should not been seen as mockery of those who have lived or currently live in a trailer but should be a celebration of their adoption of the "fine modern art" created by Charles Eames. (Note: I just looked up the price. Holy s... $568!!! My trailer park imagery might be a tad unrealistic. If you spend that much money on this garbage then you have too much. Cut me a check.)

Check out that sexy backside
True story. This chair had to be discontinued at some point because it was made of fiberglass. Fiberglass dust particles are a known carcinogen. This chair is literally so ugly it will kill you. Nowadays it is made form 100% recyclable polypropylene.

Plastic furniture is cheap looking no matter how much you pay for it. Class it up a bit and get a real rocking chair. If you are looking for a rocking chair to match your cheap white plastic patio furniture then talk to me; I use to work in a patio furniture store. I will advise you to throw it all out and purchase some real patio furniture.

Full Disclosure: I lived in prefab in North Carolina and a trailer in Iraq. I understand the convenience of a house on wheels.
