John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum
When you arrive at the museum, you are not sure what to make of it with its white concrete construction; with its flat walls straight walls on the left and the circular shape in contrast to the right with a recessed glass entrance that still puzzles. The unmistakeable yet confusing off triangular looking concrete towering form coming up from the two story base with a glass cube it appears melded into its side does nothing to aid the understanding of the building's purpose; however, to understand is to experience the structure for what it is - a cleverly designed multi-use structure housing the archives and the museum. You experience the history of John F. Kennedy's throughout the exhibits in the enclosed lower levels to then dramatically and reflectively emerge into the glass pavilion looking out over the bay with nothing in the space but a suspended American flag. This contrast is enough to engrain a memory of the experience and the architectural focus from years prior.
