Villa Vizcaya

I got the chance to tour this magnificent and historical American estate located in Miami, Florida. It is an intimidating place to drive up to, as if you feel you are driving up to the house of a James Bond villain. It utilizes a combination of a few kinds of architecture styles with the most predominate one being Renaissance. I liked the way in which they built a large open courtyard in the middle of the house that lets all the fresh Florida air in, along with my favorite part, natural light. This courtyard had all of the bedroom doors surrounding it on the second floor. The most amazing part about this whole place is that something this big and intricate could be built back in the 1920's, but I guess when you had the kind of money that James Deering had you can afford to have one of the first telephones in a house and an intercom system connected to your royal kitchen to order food.
